KWINDOO is a cross platform sail broadcasting and performance analytics tool for sailors and race organisers. It is based on a GPS tracking smartphone app for racers and online management tool for event organizers.
I've designed the product from the basic idea, trough MVP to the fully functional system. My tasks includes many more field beside the main design work on this project; business analysis, wireframing, prototyping, user research, field testing, project management. Furthermore, I do main design work; branding, UX (UI, interaction) for web and mobile (iOS, Android), animation, video editing.

Sailing is an invisible sport and it is a challenge to bring it closer to the audience. Of course there are some popular events which has the budget for high quality broadcasts, but most events cannot afford it. We wanted to approach from a new way which brings more interest to the actual excitement of watching sport. A similar experience like watching live F-1 or a football game. The idea: GPS tracking app for sailors, live broadcast for viewers.

Okay, so a GPS tracking app. Start tracking and put it away? How it could be useful for our users during sailing?
The most important thing for the racer after a sail race has started, is the location of the mark that they have to reach next. The organiser can preset the exact locations of the marks, so we've created an interactive map viewing the race course. I've also designed a dashboard so they can check their actual performance.

We've created a fully interactive speed chart, synchronised with the tracked route. It is implemented natively for the KWINDOO iOS and Android apps and we've built a web version with Chart.js.

As an ecosystem, the core of KWINDOO is the tool for the sailing event organizers. This takes place on kwindoo.com, an online tool for creating and managing organized sailing events. Event owners can register and publish their events like in any calendar. Participants can find any organized event in their app.
iPad app for organizers is under development.
